Recruitment Approach

Barclay Simpson Executive Search Inc. operates in niche disciplines so we understand the challenges of recruiting at all levels, from experienced team members and sole contributors to senior executives. We tailor our recruitment approach to the needs of the client and the specific demands of the position, including the skills required, level of seniority, any confidentiality requirements and the resources needed to undertake an assignment effectively.

Our approach can include:

  • Contract Staffing & Interim Solutions – we can provide specialists in the short or longer term on an interim or contract basis.
  • Contingent Search – permanent recruitment with a fee on successful placement.
  • Exclusive Search – retained on an exclusive basis with staged fees, where more dedicated resource is required.

Whichever method is employed, clients will benefit from our sophisticated international database and network of contacts built up over many years in our niche markets. These highly effective resources are supplemented by dedicated research and mapping using the latest digital media and online tools, gaining referrals from trusted industry specialists, and networking at a wide range of industry events and conferences.

Contingent Permanent Recruitment 

On a contingent permanent basis all recruitment is led by the specialist consultant within the Practice and region relevant to the role – meaning that clients will always work with a specialist in their market.

Typically for contingent roles we will look to source candidates as effectively and as quickly as possible.

We use a variety of methods to source candidates, including our 90,000 strong candidate database, searching for candidates via recruitment media and utilizing our networks for referrals.

We rarely send more than 4-5 resumes per position. Where geographically viable we meet every candidate we represent.

We provide and present individual candidate notes to assist clients when reviewing resumes and interviewing.

Executive Retained Search 
Where a role is very senior, business critical, requires global coverage, or for multi-vacancy campaigns, our clients will often retain Barclay Simpson to perform an executive search on a retained basis.

All executive search mandates are led by the Practice Head in the given region supported by the International Partners of Barclay Simpson who work at a global level. A research team will also be assigned to each mandate.

Barclay Simpson develops a market map and target “long-list” with the client and conducts thorough research, before actively targeting contacts within the agreed talent pool.

During the campaign, Barclay Simpson will hold regularly scheduled project briefings with client stakeholders and provide feedback on how the role/brand is being perceived within the market and any difficulties or opportunities we have encountered.

We interview every suitable candidate against pre-agreed competencies and criteria either in person or, when not geographically viable, via video conference. We provide detailed reports on each candidate to the client alongside a resume and person profile.

A shortlist will then be provided within a pre-agreed timeframe and we work closely with the client throughout the interview and selection process.

Contract Staffing & Interim Solutions 

Barclay Simpson Executive Search Inc. will assist clients to secure temporary and interim professionals for specific business requirements – to cover absence, work on a specific project, or for a variety of other reasons.

For contract and interim positions Barclay Simpson will aim to deliver a shortlist within 24 – 48 hours.

Barclay Simpson brings the same level of rigour we apply to our permanent hiring to our contract hiring, taking a detailed brief from the client and ensuring all candidates are thoroughly interviewed and assessed.

Once the placement is agreed on we then take care of all administrative aspects including ensuring compliance with all legal and tax requirements, professional indemnities, background checks, etc.

After the contractor has started work, Barclay Simpson will keep in touch on a regular basis to ensure the hire is positive for all concerned.
