Job Description

Barclay Simpson Executive Search is working with a full-service law firm who is looking to bring on a Senior Network Engineer to sit out one of their Midwest offices. This position can sit out of either Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, or Cincinnati, OH

This Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, designing, installing and managing the Firm’s network infrastructure.  Additional responsibilities include managing and monitoring performance of network systems, responding to system alerts, maintaining appropriate security configurations on network equipment, and setting data and voice cabling specifications.  Provide mentoring, training and leadership to other engineers.  Also provides support to firm users and internal IS staff.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Review and implement local area network technologies – Research, evaluate, recommend, design, and implement hardware across the firm; Installation, configuration and maintenance of switches, wireless access points.

·         Review and implement wide area network technologies – Research, evaluate, recommend, design, and implement hardware across the firm; Installation, configuration and maintenance of routers or SD Wan Appliances,                  WAN Accelerators, MPLS Circuits, Internet Circuits, and point-to-point circuits.

·         Review and implement security technologies - Research, evaluate, recommend, design, and implement hardware across the firm; Installation, configuration and maintenance of firewalls, VPN devices, IDS/IPS systems.

·         Networking hardware and software and configurations – Implement and utilize various network management tools to monitor day-to-day networking functions.

·         Support and maintenance – Evaluate vendors; negotiate terms for purchase, maintenance, replacement, and contracts related to network hardware and voice systems.  Evaluate costs versus performance return for                       hardware implementation.

·         Manage outside networking resources and contractors.

·         Participate in project and design review analysis.

·         Maintain high percentage of system availability.

·         Meet operational Service Level Agreements.

·         Develop disaster recovery strategies for network services.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Project Participation - Prepare business cases based on system and firm needs; identify goals and objectives; determine technical architecture; management construction of project and rollout.

·         Other Essential Functions as Directed - Position requires the ability to adapt to new technologies and/or add new job duties as directed.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·         5 to 10 years of Cisco Network experience in data center technologies, routing, switching, wireless.  CCIE or CCNP preferred.

·         2 to 5 years of experience installing and managing Palo Alto firewalls.

·         2 to 5 years of experience installing and managing Cisco (Viptella) SD-WAN.
