The Division

 

Barclay Simpson has been recruiting in the United States since 2012. From our offices in Midtown Manhattan we operate within the following markets: Internal & IT Audit; Risk Management; Information & Cyber Security; Compliance. The US division was the second highest division company-wide in 2017 in terms of net fee income. 

 

Barclay Simpson USA has had a dedicated Risk Management recruitment team since 2015 specializing in Market Risk, Credit Risk, Quantitative & Model Risk and Operational Risk Management disciplines. We have an established group of core clients in Banking & Financial Services from AVP level all the way through to senior hires and MD positions. We have agreed terms with a wide range of clients including a number of major U.S. firms and global non domestic banks. 

 

We have ambitious plans for the growth of the Risk Management function, which we see as a key pillar of our offering in the United States. The person we hire will be instrumental in joining our established proposition and supporting its growth by winning new clients, optimising our candidate pool and enhancing the quality of our offering.

The Role

 

Based in Midtown New York, day to day responsibilities will include:

 

  • Supporting the growth of the risk management desk by winning clients and new business from existing ones

  • Developing a high-quality pool of candidates to send to clients using marketing, social media and networking approaches

  • Writing adverts, content for market reports and other marketing paraphernalia, and supporting the delivery of events within the Risk Management space

  • Working closely with colleagues in the team to effectively cross-sell and deliver a “joined-up” approach to clients 

  • Working closely with and coaching interns who support our work on a day-to-day basis

     

    As a growing office we are keen for people to develop with us – a successful Consultant can expect both promotional opportunities and, in the medium-term, opportunities to build out new areas, manage more junior staff as we add headcount, and contribute to the infrastructure and development of the office in a variety of other ways.

 

The Candidate

 

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

 

  • Experience of working in a 360 “full-desk” role.

  • Previous experience of risk management from a recruitment perspective (any sector) is strongly preferred

  • Candidates will have a strong track record of business development and should be able to demonstrate previous success in this area at interview.

  • Likewise, given the profile of some of our existing accounts, an uncompromising approach to client delivery and account management is essential.

  • Strong attention to detail regarding system usage and sharing data. 

  • Strong, genuine team-player who enjoys a collaborative approach.
